My mom is my hero. As a polio survivor with severe physical disabilities, people said she would never hold a job or teach. She proved them wrong every day of her life, becoming a successful hospital manager and teacher. She taught me “you can do anything if you truly believe in yourself”. I carry her fire within me, and I feel privileged to kindle that spark in others.
When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left and could say: I used everything you gave me.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be Batman because he had such a cool car and gadgets, and he was always saving the world. Sounded like a pretty great job to me. Still does, actually.
